Salt Pans

Over the years, I have photographed salt pans from the air. From a helicopter they become immense white fields of drying salt surrounded by levees that control the tidal surges. I first shot these salt pans in 1990. I had recently switched over from Kodachrome to the first version of Fuji Velvia 50. I was excited to see how the pans would render on the hyper saturated film. These images were processed in Capture One and then a bit of “Velvia” was added via Alien Skin’s “Exposure” plug-in for Photoshop.
