Fannie Mae – Vanity Fair

I shot four projects for Vanity Fair this past six months. Two of them were major stories involving extensive aerial shooting. One is a story that features my aerials and portraits. (to be published in 2009).

In October, Vanity Fair asked me to shoot the corporate headquarters of Fannie Mae for a piece that was published in this February 2009 issue.

Shot at sunrise on a Sunday morning to minimize the amount of people and traffic near the building in Northwest DC. I found quite a few strong angles that helped tell the story. Many years ago, I shot quite a bit of architecture: I enjoy finding a strong vantage point plus the pacing of this type of assignment. Very different than my people and aerial photography.

I don’t know who shot the people images that were overlaid onto my picture. My copy has not arrived via the postal service.

The article by Bethany McLean “Fannie Mae’s Last Stand” is brilliant. In depth backstory on how Fannie Mae became the powerhouse in the mortgage industry and what has happened the past few years.

(Hey folks, I have turned off comments to the blog. I am moving my site to a new server in a few days with a new design. The blog is getting hit by spammers every day. )
